Asheville

Our first camping trip, well we call it our trial run. My friend and I booked this trip 3 weeks before and the husbands weren’t exactly thrilled. My friend's camper was torn apart because they were remodeling it before our trip to key west.

Asheville was on our bucket list and was within the distance we wanted to travel.

We stayed at a campground in Maggie Valley called Creekwood farm. It was perfect, close to Asheville and close to the entrance to the Smoky Mountains. There was a creek that the kids played in all day. We cooked Thanksgiving dinner and hung out for the night. The next day we did The Smoky Mountains and on the last day, we did Asheville. The Omni Hotel was having a gingerbread house competition, they had hundreds of gingerbread houses throughout the hotel. We sat out on the porch and had a light lunch and cocktails. We should have just stayed there for the day. Honestly, I don't know why it was on my bucket list. Asheville is very… granola. We were the only ones not wearing masks, and people were yelling at us. There's a ton of homeless people coming up to you begging for money, even coming up to the kids. The kids wanted to go into a toy store, we went in and were asked to leave because they weren’t wearing masks. They were eventually invited back in without their masks but the parents weren’t allowed in, but we were allowed in to pay for their stuff! It was overall just a bad experience. Maybe will visit when life gets back to normal, but for now I will visit the surrounding areas of Asheville!
