Portland

Maine is one of the most naturally beautiful places I’ve visited. We spent one day in Portland and loved every second of it. Portland was our first stop of our 10 day RV trip to Maine, we will also be visiting Kennebunkport, Freeport, Bar Harbor and exploring Acadia National Park. Here is Is how we spent one day in Portland Maine and all of the places I recommend.

A super charming New England city about 2 Hours away from Boston. There are a ton of fun things to do, in addition to the outstanding food scene, there are plenty of shops, parks, museums, festivals, and beaches. We cant forget about Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse. The Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth is the oldest lighthouse in Maine and is adjacent to 90-acre Fort Williams Park and its great ocean views and recreation. Fort Williams Park has nice walking trails, gardens and a children's garden area. The former keepers' house is now home to The Museum at Portland Head Light.

Portland is food Paradise, so there are a ton of restaurants to choose from. Easton has been talking about eating lobster every day on this trip, and if you know Easton, he has very expensive taste in food. Maci on the other hand stuck to her chicken nuggies, opposite kids! We found this incredible restaurant at the end of the Portland Pier. Lukes Lobster, their flagship restaurant with incredible views. Its right next door to their lobster buying station, so you know its fresh! Besides the lobster rolls being incredible, so are the cocktails.

After you have you fill of cocktails and lobster, walk just a short way to shop your way through Portland. There are a number of quaint shops perfect for popping in and browsing, or if you’re like me… buying everything! We hit Blackdog, since now we have one we apparently needed all of the gear. Cool as a Moose, perfect for all souvenirs and sweatshirts. We did more window shopping on this trip and of course I had to stop into the Seabag store, since Maine is where the majority their material comes from. I love that every single bag is unique and holds its own story with the sails that were used to make it. I was on my best behavior in this store and refrained from buying one, but had my eye on one for a special occasion.

The kids were exhausted from our day so we did not get to stay for dinner but Jeff needed his Ice Cream. So Ice Cream before dinner!
